UPMC Appreciates Your Inspirational Stories
Matthew has returned from his appointment with some really great news! This being that all the inspirational stories shared by everyone from around the world are extremely appreciated by the doctor's and staff at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvana!
A representative from the Children's Hospital was beyond delighted in getting her hands on the stories. As she put it, "...We are always looking for ways to help our patients and their parents feel they are not alone in what they are going through. We also try to show them how it is possible to cope with whatever condition may afflict you. These stories will definitely help the children and their families know they are not alone in their struggles and how there are people, places, and things that are out there in which can empower them beyond their respective life challenges..." (Paraphrased)
The specialist that Matthew sees for his glaucoma is also the Director of the UPMC Eye Center. He has taken a lot of what Matthew has shared regarding the panel and e-mailed it to other doctors to review and share. He also has made .PDFs of most of the provided documentation for reference. Since this doctor is world known for his efforts in treating Glaucoma it goes without saying the stories shared by everyone are definitely making their rounds far beyond UPMC.
Despite our panel still not being available for view we at Hapo Tales want to thank everyone who submitted their stories on how My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has helped in coping with your special needs or traumatic life events. Your stories are far more valuable than anything Matthew and his team could ever present as they are now making their rounds to help others know there is hope beyond their conditions.
Thanks so much for making our panel a success everyone. We'll share more as Matthew continues his advocacy work towards empowering the special needs community, educating those who are unaware of how special needs doesn't mean one cannot be a success in life, and how our very own Haposaurs are playing their own part in bringing hope to children everywhere.

I'm most certain
Stoneth appreciates your compliment to his work. He worked very hard on it.
We really wished we could've gotten him to BronyCon since he was such an active part of making the Coping with Disabilities Through Pony panel possible. But his work definitely made it there. As did the work of so many other folks who volunteered to ensure we were more than just a 50 minute spot amidst a 3 day convention. :)

Well the fine folks at BronyCon say the convention will at least be going until 2017 with talks in the works going well into 2020. So you have plenty of time to make BronyCon.
One thing that will help BronyCon last is the announced feature length movie coming out in 2017 that is to be based after the G4 Ponies.
Here's wishing you the best in helping your mom. Being there for family members can be tricky. My mom is often the one helping me as I require transport to my specialist appointments. She is actually visiting me and my family now to help me make a series of weekly appointments. I don't know what I'd do without her.
When my eye exploded in 2012 my mom was the only one who was able to stay with me while I was so far away from home. My wife started a new job and my son was beginning Kindergarten when I was locked down in the hospital for over a month. I'd have really lost it without her being there.

yup moms are the best in the world i feel so lucky to have my mom in my life and i did not know that a full length MLP FIM movie was in the works that going to be awesome to see oh and if your in need for some giggles i found a super funny one https://inkbunny.net/files/full/926.....n_12443823.jpg oh and next week on the Wednesday the 29th i'm going to go and see my Aunt and go to apple hill here's a web site the place is celebrating it's 5th year http://www.applehill.com/
As am I. Coordinating everything for Coping with Disabilities Through Pony was nearly a year long effort. But all that effort pays off when you know how much stories like these positively influence far beyond the Brony fandom.
The arts are truly a gift in how they give us all a way to relate and share with others. You meet people you'd never think you would ever find simply by putting up a story or piece of art that makes them think, "Hey, I think this fellow may be someone I can connect with."
I've made some stupendous friendships through discovering, commenting on, and sharing stories and art. This element is what I have hoped would inspire other people to put on similar panels at other conventions on how subcultures of creativity give those with special needs or whom are in search of a place to call their own hope that their lives are unique, special, and appreciated.
So far there is no word yet on others taking this concept beyond what I have. But I have had some interest shared in doing the panel at BronyCon 2015. We'll see what happens. :)
