This mandala, to me, represents the universe: the wholeness of the skies, earth, and underworld in the wings of birds, bugs, and bats, the halo above and spaded tail below; the oneness of the four elements of air, fire, water, and earth through their alchemical symbols; the unity of life and death within the vertebrae and six petaled lotus flower; the eternal continuity of life in its harmonious balance of smooth sailing and rough waters; three drops of water, blood, and divine nectar; at the very center beats a gentle heart, unconditionally loving.
