came up with a new character a few days ago and drew him up for lineart practice, then decided it'd be best to color it as well.

Well, marx50, I like to use fat beaver characters in not-so-gross gags. An apropos gag for your beaver character 'Felix' would be an image of him at a screening of "Guardians of the Galaxy", and having him uncontrollably drool, every time 'Groot' appears on the screen! (See? Not-so-gross!)
If I really wanted to make this gag gross, I could've drawn 'Felix' in the same theater with an audience of other beavers - also drooling at the sight of 'Groot' - causing a minor flood in the first three rows. An alert usher seeing this calls out to the back, "We're going to need more mops and buckets!"
