does some really swanky and detailed art. Quite a few pieces of sci-fi and other kinds of futuristic complexity that I like. So when the opportunity came up to discuss and have something less explicit than muh usual commission came up, I went for it.Now, the intention all along was to potentially turn the clothing into an actual 3D asset at some point. I might not claim to be an actual modeller, but I can be competent when I put some effort in. I generally avoid trying though because I feel like I'm fighting the tools through my lack of experience and it makes the whole process... less than satisfactory. I'd rather stick to my code and work with somebody else who has spent the ridiculous number of hours understanding the tools, rather than doing it myself. I mean, I can only achieve anything because I understand the theory behind certain aspects of modelling precisely because I've had my hands so deep in the guts of rendering systems that you kinda have to do so. I get the techniques, I know the methods. I just don't know the tools all that well, and that's where all the time goes.
But, I've been wanting to try my hand at a couple of cloth/clothing systems in the last few months, and this would be a pretty solid opportunity to have a solid crack at the process.
All that said; the version on the left is originally what
came up with and I was pretty happy with it. I talked to
about the whole thing, and he suggested a couple of tweaks and changes that would help glue the whole thing together a little more cohesively as a potentially 3D object, the result of which being the version on the right.
