Here we have someone becoming a cockatrice, wondering what in the HECK is happening to them. (Probably about as confused as Banen was.) Fortunately, anthro cockatrices are immune to their own little touches (For those of you nethack palyers) and they have a small membrane that goes over their eyes. Tends to keep 'em from accidentally doing things.

A very old Rouge-like game, one of the oldest I know of. So old there's versions where the game map was made up of keyboard symbols and characters instead of pixel graphics. There's also an absurdly high number of ways to die...If I remember right, anything cockatrice related totals up to a dozen potential deaths (for one creature). Permanent deaths.
