The Coping with Disabilities Through Pony panel was far more than a fifty minute presentation at BronyCon 2014. It was a collaborative effort made possible thanks to the talents behind My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the efforts of the Brony community such as Silly Filly Studios' masterpiece, Snowdrop, and all those who have taken the show along with the Brony movement to advance themselves beyond what they originally felt was possible.
Matthew, Rachel, and the rest of the team wish they were able to include far more content than they were able to during their panel. But the fact there is still so much to show and share in which can empower the special needs community gives hope for a potential second showing at BronyCon 2015.
For now all of us at Team Hapo want to express our gratitude to Meredith Sims and the rest of the talented team at Silly Filly Studios for giving us Snowdrop. So many have found Snowdrop a source of inspiration in coping with their special needs or traumatic life events. If you haven't seen the animation we highly encourage you to do so by visiting the link below.

We also want to thank up-and-coming software developers and IT specialists, like Rachel Merryfield, who have noticed the growing lack of accessible software that is available despite the original promise those of us in the special needs community were given that technology would only make life easier for us instead of worse.
If you haven't checked out Rachel's work, Braillemon, we invite you to check out the official site. Any support for this project would only help fuel similar projects by other developers and IT specialists, like Rachel, by showing how there is truly a need for software to be as accessible as possible with a compassionate world out there willing to help in any way they can to make it so those with special needs can do just as much as those who may not have such challenges in their lives.

I'm pretty sure Snowdrop was born blind. Though that is something only the creator can truly answer. :)
Thanks for clearing up the FC. I kind of thought it was something like that but was unsure.
Silly Filly Studios is not making any additional content for Snowdrop so what is shown is the extent of her story. There have been many questions regarding matters beyond the story you see but the creators said what you see is as far as we go. They share the process of making it plus the inspirations but any other story points are open for personal interpretation. :)

That is open to your own interpretation. This is what makes fiction so great is you can take an aspect of it however you feel it may go. :)
I've talked at length with Meredith Sims, the lead writer and voice of Snowdrop, and she had nothing but positive intentions with her portrayal of Snowdrop. She even discusses this in great detail during our panel.
Once the panel is available for view I invite you to watch and listen to Meredith's segment where she discusses Snowdrop at length on behalf of the special needs community. :)

*Nods* I know where you are coming from. This is why the panel was entitled Coping with Disabilities Through Pony while I made reference largely to "Those of us within the Special Needs Community".
Disability has a stigma of stating one does not have an ability. Special Needs, to me, implies how an individual simply needs to be given empowerment to succeed. If something can be done to bridge the gap the person is not disabled. Rather they are enabled.
Terminology is always changing so who knows what will come of how a similar presentation would be done if it is done next year. This is why I am keeping a close eye out for feedback to see if doing the same panel next year is worthwhile while also seeing if there is ways I can improve upon the overall presentation as a whole. :)

Not that I'm aware of. The only one I know of is Snowdrop.
Though we did get some folks who shared their stories of inspiration via the book we assembled to supplement the panel. One image worth noting was of an OC that was aided by Pinkie Pie to feel happy despite her life's trials and tribulations. :)

Oh, this is a neat lil card! (: It's great that there's more to the con and everything than what was at the panel. You all have lots'a work and things you do and spend time on for good causes and it's great that you were all able to give some time to show and explain, and have places for folks to check into it more. :3
Don't forget the important part you played in making this all possible, too, dear friend. *Snugs* You kindly volunteered to compile the book while offering plenty of encouragement on the side. :)
What you see here is something I gave to my eye specialists awhile back. They have shared it with the children's hospital so I am hopeful that more kids are able to find ways to know they are understood so they can cope with their trials thanks to Snowdrop and Braillemon.
Honestly Pony was an extremely limited part of the panel. Though I don't think anyone cared since I established its relevance straight off prior to getting down to brass tacks with the rest of the team. :)
