They are... Sort of.

Far as I can gather from Ryuu, Avalon (avalian home planet(duh)) has very large herbivorous creatures, that happen to be larger than avalians. Instead of trying to kill them, they would instead rip chunks of meat off them, which can be seen in their teeth (their teeth are terrifying o.o). There's also the pack-hunting-spear-diving-ambush-attack mentality.

Blame Ryuu for engineering this race not to be fetish fuel.

Fetish havers will find a way anyway. Nah but seriously. Avali are awesome. Even if they have terrifying teeth and are basically high tech space raptors. Adorable high tech fluffy space raptors.
