Having undergone a gigantic overwhelming growth from microscopic size to mega-macro means that Ben is by far the worst affected by the afteraffects, and will continue growing for the next couple of years at least. The scientists predict that he could end up around three times the height of a normal man, and may also experience a severly shortened life expectancy as well.
He is kept on the facility at all times to further his research, but is also effectively a prisoner - a neccessary sacrifice for the one he loves. He also hopes through his research he can fix his own growing body - albeit this time on a much smaller scale.

well if he solved the problem with his research he can shrink himself back to normal size...every knows the giant lion...no one would suspect a lion if his original size to be the same one who almost accidentally destroyed the city.
