Dijon the 31st January 1916
Dear Mum
I write you this two words for give you of my news which are always good. I'll tell you that yesterday, we went out into town but before, he had to do drink and to curry all the horses from the Canada, there are dirty. Finally, it was quickly, we took 4 horses each for bring them to the trough so at 2pm that was ended and we went out in town, we went to the city hall where there were a hun's aeroplane exhibited. You asked me if the food is good, we don't have to complain, we stopped to eat into the bowls because that don't give a good taste. This morning we ate into plates, so this morning, we ate a meat soup and the beef dressing. Thursday, we were vaccinated against the Typhoide. And for B_________, he's always to the infirmary, he had furuncles at the head. There are 5 guys of the room which are to the infirmary.

Je t'écris ces deux mots pour te donner de mes nouvelles qui sont toujours très bonnes. Je te dirais que hier, nous sommes sortis en ville mais avant, il a fallu faire boire et étriller tous les chevaux du Canada, ils sont sales. Enfin, ça été vite fait, on a pris chacun 4 chevaux pour les mener à l'abreuvoir si bien qu'à 2 heures tout était fini et nous sommes sortis, nous avons été à l'Hôtel de ville où il y avait un avion Boche exposé. Tu me demande si la cuisine est bonne, on a pas à se plaindre, on ne mange plus dans les gamelles car ça ne donne pas bon goût, ce matin on a mangé dans des assiettes, ainsi, ce matin, on à manger soupe grasse et le bœuf à la vinaigrette. Jeudi on s'est fait vacciner contre la Typhoïde. Quand à B_________, il est toujours à l'infirmerie, il a des furoncles à la tête, il y en a 5 de la chambre à l'infirmerie. Plus rien à te dire pour aujourd'hui.
