In some ways, technically, this is the best plate I got all weekend. I'm still learning technique and how to judge the light.

The other day I was joking about wet plate as being more like alchemy than science. Consider that the substrate (collodion) is plant material (cotton) prepared with nitric and sulfuric acids. Niter and sulphur elements of fire and air. The collodion is salted with iodines, elements of water. To activate the plate it is soaked in silver salts, earth.

The plate is exposed and developed in an iron and sulphur solution and the image fixed with another salt.

Silver also has special properties in the sprit world. So who can say that collodion photography, with the proper incantations, is not capable of capturing a piece of the soul.

Maybe there is a missing piece to this method of imagery - an incantation, prayer, or genuflect, that would make it a prison of soul. O hey, maybe you're on to something. Though I am no Dorian Grey, I am of Coyote Soul - damned to be comic/trickster/fool/demigodsomething, so: my soul is part of Eternity.

Kudos for putting up with that mask. It looked like you were pretty much blind in that thing. Awesome effect though.
