In this case, the wings are inspired by a blue jay's wings but are not meant to be exact (see my comment below) so the coloration is perfect as it is. I don't want the feathers greyed out. :P
By the way, still loving that mug you made for me! :D (In case you didn't recognize her, the dragon here is Luneia, formerly Luna! I had to change her name to make it more unique, LOL. :P)

Lol! Yep, that's her! I was making my remarks about blue jay wings because of a painting that Heather Bruton was doing. The character was an anthro Blue jay, and the pose she wanted to use was from the front, which would show the under side of its wings. She wanted yo use realistic blue jay markings...but the underside of their wings was not the pretty side! The artist in her said ignore the realism, while the bird watcher in her said that she had to paint it correctly! She got around this by drawing TWO anthro blue jays...one facing the viewer, one with its pretty back to the viewer...problem solved!
I'm so glad you like the mug! It was fun to paint!

Aaaaah, I see! That makes perfect sense, LOL! :P I'm an avid bird watcher myself and the blue jay is my favorite of the songbirds (along with the black-throated mocking jay); I just think their colors are so pretty -- at least from the dorsal side anyway, heh! XP I always found the grey underside of their feathers to be a bit disappointing in contrast to the gorgeous blue on top, especially when I'd find them in my backyard and try to display them for viewing only to find that the grey side was the only side that ever wanted to show, LOL! :P
Yeah, I love the mug! It's great for tea, and much cooler than everyone else's, LOL! ;D

Ooooh, this is looking BEAUTIFUL!!! :D I'm loving it!!! Even if you left the saturation as it is, I think it's looking gorgeous! ^_^ And the starry sky is PERFECT!!! BTW, I know
SandySchreiber pointed out the blue jay coloration above, but don't grey out the wings. The colors are inspired by blue jays, yes, but they are not fully blue jay wings; they're actually designed with inspiration from multiple species' wings, including blue jays, red-tailed hawks, and a few different varieties of parrots. :)
One question/note though, if you don't mind -- do you plan to correct the color of the little feathers at the top of the wing (above the purple feathers)? They're supposed to be a light pink, not blue (it's on my ref sheet). I know you're still working on it though so I'm sure you would have caught that but I figured I'd ask. :P Great job so far though! I'm VERY happy with the progress! ^_^

LOL, no problem! That's why I figured I'd ask, just in case you didn't notice; after all she does have a lot of blues and purples going on to confuse you, heh! :P
The 29th? That's cutting it a bit close, but I suppose that will be fine; I think I can still manage to get it printed onto the canvas in time for our anniversary, but I'll have to wait to frame it until after we get back from Anthrocon. No biggie! The 29th will be fine. I'd rather you take your time to make this thing as perfect as it can be than rush it to meet a deadline. I'm loving it already!!! I'm going to set this as the background to my phone when it's finished, LOL! ;P Would you be able to send me a high-quality lossless copy of the file when it's done for printing purposes? Either .psd or .png or something would be good! I just want to make sure it prints well. This is going to look GORGEOUS on our wall!!! ^_^ Thank you for doing this for us!
BTW, as a funny little side-note you might find interesting, my mate is ALWAYS pointing things out in the stars to me, so the fact you decided to have him doing that in this image without my even mentioning that is absolutely PERFECT!!! :P
