Tamias facing the Shackles of his Past
First off, I wanted to show off the alternative outfit Tamias sometimes wears. This could be what he goes for when out on adventures and in situation that require somthing more rugged and utilitarian than what his formal chieftain;s attire can provide. And secondly I wanted to dive more into Tamias's inner workings when it comes to his personality and what made him who he is.
Chipmunks are renown for their resilience having endured incredible trials and tribulations that have in most cases broken species and civilizations. But even as durable chipmunks and there culture have proven to be, they too carry in mind, body, and soul, the scars of their darkest times. The very stripes upon their backs are eternal scares inflicted by the slaying of their greatest hero and corner stone of what makes a chipmunk..a chipmunk.
In the case of one chipmunk by the name of Tamias Orenberg his scars where savagely etched deep within the core of his being by a childhood devastated by unspeakable pain and suffering. Such was that torturous time in his past life as Norman Lee, this scared chipmunk's spirit was completely and utterly destroyed leaving behind nothing but a seemingly empty shell barely clinging to life. It was thanks to the care of those who revived him from suspended animation and repaired his sicken and battered body and the love of his guardians that helped him mend his broken soul, that he began the ongoing and difficult journey to rebuild himself as Tamias Orenberg.
Though Tamias has made incredible headway in his long painful journey, still the past can never be undone as made evident by the ruins of the Inner Circle prison camp in which the scared chipmunk was incarcerated and subjected to unspeakable brutality. No matter how much nature attempts to cover the ruins with vegetation as if attempting to heal wounds upon her sacred grounds, still the crumbling stone walls and bent iron bars persist much like how Tamias is still afflicted with nightmares, flashbacks, and phobias instilled into him like chisels upon a stone tablet by his past tormentors. Upon his chest and belly are the visible scars of what he endured. Even the rusted shackles he holds in his hand, the very ones that were snapped closed around his wrists by his captors, somehow persisted through 350 years of time and decay.
What made Tamias choose to come to this place of his spiritual destruction is not clear. But as overwhelmed as he is from being here holding the very shackles that rendered his former self powerless against his tormentors, he has to face his past and come to terms with it if he is to truly be free from it. Maybe there is a small remnant of his former self seeking that peace for him, pushing him to face his fears, to free the person he has became to embrace a happier future, so that remnant can at long last rest.
But this is no easy journey. A body who's soul had been destroyed cannot heal overnight. It is a life long journey to heal from that kind of devastation. Tamias has to accept that fact as he will have to face his past many many times as his life progresses. Such is the price for being one who has been through hell and back.
However there is a benefit to have gone through the hell this Chipmunk endured. Those forged in the crucible of tribulations often have the strongest spirits. Aurora his most loyal of companions has always been there, always gently coaxing Tamias to realize that untapped strength she sees deep within him. It is perhaps to bring peace to himself and the drive to come to terms with his tormented past that fuels his strength, the strength to be kind to his friends, to show compassion to others who suffer, to protect those in danger. Doing these and being the kind and affectionate chipmunk those close to him know him to be, are the visible signs of the last vestiges of his former self pushing him onward in his journey to heal and rebuild. Maybe what is left of his soul, however little there maybe, is far more powerful and resilient than even Tamias himself realizes.

Very interesting. Sounds like Tamias was taken prisoner as a child. Curious as to how he was put into suspended animation. Did they use him as a guinea pig to test a new technology for keeping someone in a state of suspension over a long period of time, and during that time civilization crumbled around him? The story has a very post-apocalyptic feel to it, both for the chipmunk and for the world he used to know. Good work ^^
