This is a new group here on FA that is meant to work to connect other Video Game developers with another with in the Furry Community.
As I been noticing more an more here on fa, there are allot of people from the average joe to dedicated developers who have a huge interest in the development of video games and so I am introducing the (non-official) branch of IGDA to all the developers here.
Q & A:
Acronyms Scare me:
Don't be scared, IGDA stands for the international Game Developers Association. The acronym helps keep it from getting to wordy.
What is IGDA and what does it do?
International Game Developers Association is the professional association for over 12,000 video and computer game developers worldwide. It is incorporated in the United States as a non-profit organization.
Our Goal, Networking.
"As an international organization, we are a global network of collaborative projects and communities comprised of individuals from all fields of game development - from programmers and producers to writers, artists, QA and localization. We bring together developers at key industry conferences, in over 90 Chapters and in Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to improve their lives and their craft. We advocate on behalf of our membership to ensure quality of life, perpetuation of our craft and preparing the next generation of developers.Whether you're a student with a goal to become a game developer or a seasoned veteran, regardless if you're based in the U.S. or any country/region in the world, whether you're an indie developer or in a AAA studio, whether your primary platform is a PC, console or a tabletop - we welcome you home to the IGDA!"
So Why Fa?
Because of the high interest in Video Games and Video Game development.
Our hopes it to network to with those of the Furry Fandom and help them connect with others both inside and outside the fandom.
Ok seems noble, to noble. What's the Catch?
Absolutely nothing, unless you find us benefiting from networking with others interested and committed to the development of games a catch, that is our only gain.
Alright so who are you? Is this even allowed or legal?
I am the founder of this group and a speaker on behalf of the IGDA Charlotte Chapter based in Charlotte NC.
You can call me an IGDA evangelistic, (One who speaks about and supports the IGDA)
There is nothing illegal about speaking on behalf of the association you're are representing and nothing in the TOS or UAP on FA, much less any other furry site which discourages the use and formation of a group.
What about the Logo?
The Logo is the Logo of the IGDA and used under Fair use and by right as a member, speaker, and representative of the Charlotte NC IGDA Chapter.
I have full rights to use the logo on behalf of the IGDA to speak about the IGDA.
You say you represent IGDA Charlotte Chapter? Does this Chapter ever meet?
Yes, yes it does. Every 3rd Friday of every month at 8050 Microsoft Way, Charlotte NC. You can click the link under our profile to be connected with our chapter.
Ok seems all legit, so What is the diffrence between this unofficial chapter and joining a local chapter? Ok what is the catch now?
Alright seems you caught me here. There is a catch and that as an unofficial chapter you don't have to actrually join the IGDA to network with us through the group.
But by joining the organization you will have a small annal fee (really not that much $30 for Student member ship to $48 on individual membership
there are numerous benefits for being a member. I can't go over everything thing there so much (http://www.igda.org/?page=benefits)
It really is worth it to sign up and get connected. In the meantime I will aim to connect everyone here with each other in hopes of building a community towards video game development.
How do I join your Group
Like all other groups, just watch us!
If you put our icon on your profile this will really help get this group noticed and we encourage all to speak and talk about us!
