El Burj, Palestine-December 1917
Here's a nicely done commission by
gunrapt0r of my fursona's ancestor, 27 year old Captain Orhan Effendi(Effendi is a title equivalent to Sir), leading his assault detachment in a counter attack against British forces in an area near Jerusalem called El Burj, after entering the enemy's frontline trench first, he takes out his Mauser C96 automatic pistol since its better to use in close combat than the Gewehr 98 bolt action rifle he's carrying on his back, and search for the enemy after a intense pounding from their artillery.
He was born in April 30,1890 in Adana, southern Anatolia where he was nicknamed a shepherd dog(this would later carry on as a surname where my fursona would get his last name from translated into Arabic) because his family were shepherds tending livestock(ironic isn't it?) but he instead went to Istanbul to the military academy qualifying because of his intelligence and became a Lieutenant when he graduated in 1911. He fought in the First Balkan war against the Greeks, Macedonians, Serbians and Bulgarians, in Kosovo and Macedonia managing to get his platoon back to his own lines after the rest of the unit were annihilated by the enemy. Then fighting in WWI at Gallipoli where he was promoted to Captain now leading a company, and afterward, sent to the Sinai-Palestine front.
While he was there participating in helping defend Gaza against the British he was then taken from the frontlines and chosen to lead a new assault detachment during the late summer of 1917,where the Ottoman army with the help of German expertise and weapons, formed their own Stosstruppen(storm trooper) units, Orhan getting to lead one of these detachments, because of his accomplishments in past battles and getting wounded twice. By fall 1917 was at the front again and participated in the rest of the war leading his assault detachment despite losing many of his men till the Ottoman empire exited the war in October 30,1918.
After the war he would fight in the Turkish war of independence against the Greeks under Mustafa Kemal and later became a general in the Turkish army afterward, during that time married his Albanian girlfriend(who's also a wolf), and had three pups together, he would live a comfortable life as a general till he died of natural causes in 1954, aged 64.

Hmm sure as long as you give me credit for coming up with the character, since I wrote his bio in the description, but we can chat about this, I just read the first chapter of your series and I like it so far, but I'd like to keep it touch, I'm a history major myself and WWI is an interest of mine, especially the Middle Eastern Theatre.
