My Coatl from Flight Rising, Barry. Her goggles are just sitting on top of her face in this one, not actually over her eyes being useful.


Barry is kind of withdrawn and tends to keep to herself, since she was always kind of left out anyways when she was a hatchling. Her wings were stunted and unusable when she hatched, and her eyes were damaged. Being unable to fly or see caused her siblings and other nestmates to leave her out of most events.
She's not shy, and is even a little brash and hard to get along with. She's rude, and aggressive, simply because she's been treated as disabled and with pity for the entirety of her life, and wants very little to do with anyone anymore. Even other dragons that are attempting to treat her like a "normal" dragon are generally ignored and regarded grumpily.

When she was older, she found someone that could work with steam, gears, and metal, and could "repair" her wings. All of a sudden, she was able to fly. Slowly, and clumsily, at first, but as the metal began to feel more like muscle, she began to be able to control it better, and now she can fly like any other dragon. Until she found him again, though, her blindness caused her to crash quite a lot. He made her a pair of goggles that, again, repaired her vision. They allow her to see heat, as opposed to truly seeing, but it's something. She enjoyed the look of the stuff, and had him build out a full set of "steampunk" gear for her, most of it simply for show~


YAY WALLS OF TEXT. tl;dr, Barry's a disabled dragon that had a bunch of mechanical pieces built into her body to make up for it so now she functions like a normal dragon.
