In my story 'Luck of the Dragon' on the Spontoon Island website, Hao is the youngest son of the Ni Family. The young red panda was 11 years old when his family was forced to move to the lawless pirate haven of Krupmark Island, and what he's seen and experienced has marked him.
He's just nineteen in this picture by the uber-talented
rjbartrop and has killed perhaps two dozen people in the past eight years. He looks as I've always visualized him - a surly teenaged thug.
The plane in the background is his cherished Nin Hai biplane. The Nin Hai was built by the China Naval Establishment in 1933, an early effort by the Nationalist government to start an aircraft industry. It's extremely hard to find any pictures of it, and rjbartrop did a superlative job on it!
