The color pallet should have remained the same. I try to grab a previous comic page that has all the characters in it that will be featured in the page. However sometimes occasional differences will happen. Since I use OC, I don't keep a hard an fast color pallet. I am going to continue using the crow quill for a bit, I like the details I was able to get out of traditionally inking it.
if you pay close attention to the gun belt, the holster dances from side to side. This is an error caused by a mental artifact due to me being left handed. The Sheriff should be right handed, while Kris is left handed. However when I draw them, I tend to draw them the opposite of where they should be. I'll see it in the sketch, fix it, but when I go back to ink it, I'll ink the original rather than the correction. Which always makes me feel a little silly.
this is going to sound odd. When I fill in the lines with the tablet, they are thicker, bolder, The forms seem more complete. When I draw with my crowquill the lines seem barren and need more details to look right. so I add more details. do you not like the added details?
AH! Don't worry the coat will be making a come back in the next few pages, (probably the one after the one I am working on now). She's already wearing the bra band, but it's under her shirt. Her shirt hasn't been messed with yet, The sheriff is a gentleman after all. However I wouldn't want to meet the prisoner in a back alley. ;) As for her smokes I got into a huge debate(fight) with someone over her smoking. While it's more in character, I got my butt reamed over it, so I'm not sure if I'm going to have her smoking or not.
There was two reasons why I ultimately chose this outfit for her. 1: it's way more western, something I felt was missing in the opening arc. The clothes they wore seemed a little too modern. 2: I'm treating the character with respect. Earlier today I saw a western comic. The main female character was wearing a thong, a small undershirt with her nipples indenting the shirt, chaps, and wielded a whip. While titillating, it was tiring to see so much of that. I don't feel female characters specially in the main stream are treated with respect. They are treated as sex objects to push more books. Toward the end of chapter 0 I hated having to draw her topless so much, I felt that it was distracting to the story. Specially in this comic I wanted Kris to stand a part. She's a strong character. She is boyish in her attitude, and I wanted how she dresses to reflect that.
That being said I do have plans for different things she'll wear. She'll also have times were she won't wear anything, and that is okay too. Even this design isn't permanent, she hasn't claimed her second pistol yet, She's missing her riding chaps (which she'll get soon), etc.

That's fine and I believe that sexiness has to have some weight to it or it becomes bad porn that really doesn't bring much to it. I didn't care much for her being naked in Chapter 0 because it wasnt even any real fanservice (not to knock your art style) and it didn't give any dynamic to her character. In fact the clothes actually bring her up from the naked girl we're introduced to her being. The smokes were a joke to her not taking shit about her stuff. The outfit you first showed her in was great because it celebrates her feminine appeal as well as being pragmatically stylish. I really fell in love with the character because she was an awesome ass-kicker and looked dynamically sexy at the same time.
While I may not have a thing for girls who smoke (or people), I think it should be your choice and that person can go fuck off if they have a problem with it on your character.
