just prismas! the key is just to layer and make hue shifts, not just value shifts. A lot of the time people throw cool grey on their colors to add "shading", but it sucks all the life out of a picture. the other half is becoming familiar with the different marks you make with a chisel tip and filling areas quickly so you dont have weird streaks n stuff. You probably already knew that anyways, heh.
