Collected Conbadges #43
Once again I need to update this entry with the links to the relevant owners of the badges and would welcome links to them if they're not already added by the time you see this.
BTW, badges are some of the items I get the most requests for at conventions and it's always fun to do them since they tend to look good without taking too long to execute. Come by my table if you're interested and I'll be glad to draw one of these up for you, or alternately send a note via FA here and we can talk.
Allu: Aliens has always been my favorite movie ever, and this certainly isn't my first time drawing the Xenomorph, but it sure was my first time drawing one wearing a hoodie. One small detail on the reference sheet I latched onto was the comment that Allu had a sweet tooth for candy. My brain insistently began yelling at me "Candy? What kind of candy does a Xenomorph eat?" and of course it hit me a moment later: Pez. What else could it possibly be?
Southpaw: I did a badge for this fellow last year of his character Razzle, and was pleased that he thought enough of it to return and ask for another this year of his character Southpaw, who apparently spends enough hours of the day working that he can't get a proper night's rest...
Otter: This badge for
OceanOtter was great fun to draw both because of the gleeful scenario described but also because of the terrificly fun reference art provided which I could have spent an additional hour admiring.
Dragonhead:
dragonhead has been a fixture of my livestreams for a long, long time now but it's only been relatively recently that I actually drew his character, and while the design is fun the sort of wide-eyed innocent exuberance of the character as described to me has been even more entertaining. Here he is embracing one of the largest hard drives I've ever heard of.
carriecaracal: I'm not a cat person really, but one of the behaviors of cats that I've always found fascinating is their habit of getting distracted by an object of fancy and becoming single mindedly obsessed with it to the exclusion of all else. That's the expression I was going for and I still smile when I see this badge now.
