One of my main characters She's a strong, independent, courageous woman and has a keen sense of others and her surroundings. She is also a skilled and graceful warrior and hails from part of a nomadic tribe of and a cat-like race.
She is of Arabian descent and follows the Muslim faith, for most of her life she was training to be soldier, specializing in the use of twin swords and took a role as a caravan guard, protecting valuable passengers and cargo along the silk road.
This is her when she was about 18, before she would meet Niles, the man who would eventually be her husband and before they would set out on a life-changing journey.
This character is part of long gestating project of mine and the depiction here would be her in her younger years around say 18-21, hopefully you'd be able to see more of her and the story she's part of sometime soon!

Based on whoever is interpreting they would most likely put their own views rather than speak directly from the religious text. For example the Taliban no doubt preaches their views on women rights, as opposed to an Imam living in Canada or the UK who would preach a completely different interpretation of the Quran.
The fact is that historically and in my personal view, Islam did much to support women's rights, concerning marriages, education and property rights when it was founded during the 7th century when the western world did not give women legal status until centuries later.
Also when Islam was first founded and found itself persecuted there were passages praising the heroism of the women that chose to fight alongside the men when they had to themselves from other warring tribes in a harsh barbaric time.
I myself am Christian but I respect Islam as a divine religion and the values it preaches practically reflects my own.
