I have an odd sort of Love/Hate relationship with Furs and pelts.
On one hand, I find the industry of furs for clothing repugnant. Fur coats and shawls disgust me, and the practice of raising animals for the sake of pelt and pelt alone seems so wasteful. If I were to raise animals for clothing, I'd at least use the rest of the beast as well.
On the other hand, I love fur. Furrydom is something near-spiritual for me, and running my hands across my pelts and tails brings me closer to that kind of furry headspace. I'm also a Zoology student with a real fascination for animal anatomy and an Artist with a real love of the animal form. I like my collection and I love my critters.
One thing I'm definitely unsupportive of, however, is the practice of making children's toys and plushies out of Animal pelts and fur. Logic and reason aside, the idea creeps me right the heck out. I went into this shoot trying to capture this idea, with my beloved Darwin's fox plush wearing some of it's real-life counterparts.
Unrelated, my little sister is awesome for knowing exactly what to give me for Christmas.

It definitely is so much fun to work with. I had actually never worked with Still Life prior to these assignments, but I am enjoying the freedom and am enjoying the chance to toy around with some of my favorite props.
And that definitely sounds interesting. Are you talking about Pull processing or just overexposing the film?

Depending on your developer just over expose by a half or full stop. Typically I shoot Arista at half box speed and use pyrocat-mc as a developer. It also really looks good in D23 even better in the divided version.
