What Are Friends For?

The mechanical garage door groaned to life as the large metal door slowly opened up. At first opportunity, several Colmaton officers rushed in to make arrests and rescue the kidnapping victims of Lady Hatcher’s slave trade. Walking out into the early light of dawn from the storehouse was a tall Florida panther in a red and yellow uniform. Despite the blindfold tied tight over his eyes, Slipstream was still looking down and smiling at the Australian tribal wolf in his arms. Strikira’s yellow and black costume was torn in places and she was looking rather bruised and roughed up herself, but she seemed to be just as upbeat as well.
“So you’re telling me you were watching the fight the entire time up in the rafters?” she asked as she playfully punched Slipstream in the shoulder.
“Indeed I was Striky,” he grinned. “My favorite part was when Blanc tried to sneak up behind you and you just backhanded her.”
“I’ll admit that was rather satisfying,” Strikira chuckled before holding her sore ribs. “How come you didn’t do anything to help?”
At that, Slipstream made a pouty face, “But I did! After I made sure Lady Tonsofcluck’s victims were safe I totally provided you moral support. I know you have a history with her, so I wanted to let you handle her yourself.”
Strikira was rather touched that he had thought that far ahead and had allowed her to take down Hatcher herself. Smiling, she asked, “And if it had been too much for me?”
“I would have been there in a heartbeat. You did great though and you’re going to be all right.” Slipstream’s sensor winds around the warehouse told him that the CPD had done a good job locking down the area. Satisfied that they had a handle on the situation, he grinned at Strikira, “That being said though, how about you let the Slipstream Express take you back to HQ to pay the good doctor a visit? I may not be the patient for once, but I still aim to raid Medic Mouse’s candy bowl.”
Giving him a thumbs up she smirked, “Ticket punched and ready to fly.”
With that, the two took to the skies of Colmaton, ready for a break after a job well done.Art by
