Heh... it actually varies in the entirety of the final-fantasy games >.> About as often as wearing hoods, they don't. Even in FF1, the whm wore a hood only up until 'white wizard' stage. ^^; FFT the guys wore no hood, but the girls did, FFTA... I think the girls still wore a hood, unless viera or the mystics (don't remember their name, I'm making a labyrinth reference) and they didn't even have hoods... But, highly variable.
