Worked on the paws that
AwesomeAvrin made for me last night during D&D. I trimmed the fur down with a comb and scissors to give them more shape, and it's looking good! Trying to go slow since one can't put the fur back on if one overdoes it.
Took the dremel to the claw cups to widen them out for my fat, fat thumbs. (I have very square fingers overall) Used the oval metal head with cutting ridges around the sides, and it was a mess but it worked fine--no chipping or burning. The thumb claws are MUCH more comfortable now, and there are little white chips of plastic everywhere in the living room. |)
Thoughts re: clawcaps; they do put a bit of a strain on one's fingers even when they fit properly if you are handling things with them. I think it'd be ideal to have some semi-rigid foam around them and the second joint of the finger to spread the twisting strain around. It's not ESSENTIAL by any means but that would make them pretty perfect.
Next up: trimming the spots on the sleeves level (the black fur is WAY longer than the surrounding tan fur, totally correctable) and then airbrushing. Then...profit?

In priniple the claws are bonded to the finger well enough with caps that you could use them to manipulate things, but they're so smooth out of the box that they have no grip at all!
I may need to try roughening up the tips a bit...and apparently one can pain on a conductive coating that would allow cellphone use. :)
