I am a huge fan of the Alien franchise. Although they did invent the term xenomorph when referring /mostly/ to the serpent stage of the alien life cycle, the term xenomorph does not necessarily belong to Alien franchise.
The word xenomorph can refer to any "strange form" or "alien form" which is what the word almost literally translates to. So any type of alien can be called a xenomorph.
