So this is a little different for me. And it's also the first thing I modeled in 7/8th scale! (7/8"=1')
A while back I learned about 7/8n2 which is using G scale track to represent 2ft narrow gauge. And since the scale is one 8th of an inch shy of "Doll House Scale" (1"=1') many detail parts are interchangeable and don't look out of place. Another thing I find attractive about 7/8n2 modeling is how HUGE the models themselves are!! They are MASSIVE which leaves lots of room for super epic detailing!!
Anyway, admittedly this is a kit I acquired and it is a limited run kit also! I think only 50 were made, not completely sure on that though. The kit was fairly strait forward as all the parts were laser cut and it is real wood... but they still had the natural wood color, no age to it at all. So I took some wood stain markers and gave the parts a liberal coat or two, experimenting between colors. I like the lighter one overall and I should have stuck with that for the largest crate and the det-cord spindles. (Or whatever the proper name is, I don't recall it off hand) Though the darker stain looks great on the plunder box itself!
The lugs where the cables would be connected to actually function. You can unscrew them and and attach the wire to them and screw the lugs down to secure them. The plunger does not actually produce a charge, but you can lift the hand and it moves freely up and down.
The most difficult part was winding the wire around the spools by hand. GOSH that took a long time!! O_o....
But the end results speak for themselves.
The only real grip I had over the kit, limited addition or not, was a lack of instructions and a lack of certain parts to complete the plunger box. Fortunately I had some small brass pins that I used to attach the carrying strap as well as to put on the top of the plunger handle. This covered the hole from the brass tube the handle mounted to and gave a more pleasing appearance.
I'm playing around with the idea of making "dynamite" to go with this. I seems that cutting tooth picks into small lengths works fairly well.
Anyway, I hope you like it! And comment if you fave please!!
