Before Team Light Bomb, before the PCA, and before the Headlight debacle. Burst and Sammy met in 4th grade when Sammy was performing hall monitor duties and by chance ran into Burst, who was being bullied by a Scyther girl.

At 3'09" and less than 50lbs, Burst was having a lot of problems being bullied and mistaken for a younger kid. Sammy had just moved out of Floroma, Sinnoh, where he and his family enjoyed a certain level of power and privilege for their legendary status. It was a huge culture shock when he moved out to Kanto, away from his friends and extended family, and he became very reserved.

Sammy's "prince" act and Burst's timidness weren't helping them, but they learned a lot from each other and later were able to start making new friends on their own.
