Back when I was 15, going on 16, I discovered the game that would forever change my life, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
At the time, Nintendo had a neat thing going where, every few months, you'd get a catalog you could order special stuff related to the games that were out at the time. On one such occasion, this limited edition, animation cel came up. However, I didn't have the $50 for it and had to watch it slip through my fingers. There was also a really cool, Yoshi's Island T-Shirt I missed out on, too, with a bunch of Yoshies on it and a Yoshi popping out from a front, T-Shirt pocket. But, that wasn't the big prize.
Over the past 18 years, I have thought on how much I wish I could've afforded to get this particular gem. An icon of a game that, when first advertised, I absolutely refused to play. I thought the concept was stupid and was more into playing Mortal Kombat III than a Yoshi themed game.
However, when I first played this game, something magical happened. Something that did truly change my destiny forever. And, as such, I am proud to say that, thanks to eBay, I FINALLY will soon own this long-missed treasure from my youth.

You know, I never thought of that. Now I feel even better about what I paid for it! :) Thanks, TJ!
Man, inflation has been a beast over the last decade. Our parents could tell us tales of when gas was .25 cents a gallon. The fact I can say, "I remember when gas was .99 cents" a gallon makes me feel so old. <LoL!>

*Nods* I rented it, fell in love with it, beat it, turned off the system before the ending could start, and got it for my birthday. :)
Only game I've ever done that for.
It's amazing the things that most impact us in our lives. Yoshi may be pretend, but I think that little dino-duck in me just bonded with the music, colors, and the thought of having a wonderful, cutie-wootie ride atop a smiling, happy dinosaur. :)

Thank you, Lighty. After a really rough week filled of hurt feelings, worries, and concerns, I am pressing on and focusing more on just being happy and not doing anything that could make me later feel regretful for having put so much effort into nothing.
Yoshi's Island is the game that changed my life. It helped inspire me to draw again, confirmed me as a Babyfur, and gave me a gateway into creating The Haposaurs.
In my writing, I always try to, where possible, have the spirit of this game kind of shine through by making my stories meaningful, jovial, and something you can leave with a smile from. A big, Yoshi smile. :)

It's a definite keepsake of a game. Especially when, if you think of it, everything was going all 3D and platformers seemed a thing of the past.
Yoshi's Island proved that platform gaming was far from dead and, if done right, could be more enjoyable than any graphic-laden title. Plus, it was made so new gamers and expert gamers could easily find something to enjoy. It was a rare title where Nintendo didn't just make a "Kiddie-Game" with the Mario franchise. You could honestly make this game what you wanted to make it.
Plus, the back story on Mario and Luigi was neat, the levels were beautiful for a 16-Bit game, and the bosses were very creative. :)

The art style of "Yoshi's Island" always makes me happy. It's so vibrant, colorful, and just well, happy!
If I may share, I had a pretty rough week that culminated in one, very distinct positive. This being my therapist telling me, "Make a list of things that I want to accomplish and/or do and don't worry about anything else that is out of your control."
The above statement made me glad I started the year off with the ambition to finish all those things I had left unfinished for so long. Getting this truly will make me feel happy for many years to come. Not to mention the countless, other things that go beyond how my work, and other things, have me feeling right now.
