What are you drawing with?

It actually looks it, Hey awesome suggestion, try using the "pen" tool, The "convert point tool" will let you adjust the curve of each point. (you can find it in the pen tools drop down) It will improve your lines.
For the shading i would either learn to use the gradient tool, or finish what you've already done with the blur tool.
Dont use black for shading. Use a slightly darker and a little desaturated version of the colour you used for the base.
You can also use the pen tool to plot out the shapes for shading.

Note make sure the pen tool is set to "path" on the top bar.

Cheers, I know this is late but only just saw your reply now. i'll keep this in mind when I get photoshop again. just gonna try get into art again. got the pad/pen now and using Sai.
