Snowdrop is seen here posed in what is often simply referred to as a "Slip Lamp". It is a common tool in which eye doctors use to check ocular pressure, the eye's exterior and interior, and to verify that no abnormalities, such as scratches, blisters, etc., are on your corneal surface.
In performing these tasks, the Fellow, Resident, and/or Specialist may use a "Numbing Drop" to ease the strain on the eye while you do your best to look in the direction they need you to look to see what they need to see.
They also may choose to use "Fluorescence" to identify whether-or-not any abnormalities exist on the eye.
Most "Slip Lamps" have a "White Light" and a "Blue Light". The white one is bright as heck, but allows the doctors to see what they need to see while the blue light reacts to the fluorescence to show dry spots and other potential hazards.

Hmmm I think I may have had to look in one of those when they thought I got growth medium in my eyes. If so, they are indeed painfully bright!
In any case, it was nice of them to let you photograph your stuffy using their equipment! Also, I think this is probably the best pic you've taken of the plushy as yet - she looks even softer and cuter than usual! ^^

If I could ever get back in touch with Meredith Simms, and the rest of the crew at Silly Filly Studios, I may see if I can do that. :)
Though, for the place I go to, I do think you are on to something. I could try and make a little "Pamphlet" of these three pics for when I return to UPMC in March.
Thanks, Poco. *Huggles*

I get the slip lamp once a year. I have constantly degrading myopia, thin retinas, and a genetic condition that causes bumps on the iris which can lead to malfunction. Thankfully, aside from one incidence of a detached retina, my eyes are pretty fine.
Whenever I get a new optometrist, however, they are always fascinated by me. I even had one want to photograph my eyes because she'd only ever seen anything that looked like mine in text books.

<LoL!> Gives new meaning to the term "Textbook Case".
How did you feel about the optometrist taking such photos? A younger me would've taken a bit of offense due to not being as "Excited" about how messed up my eyes are.
Ugh, detached retina. :( I think you mentioned this to me before, but it is never an easy thing to know.
Are you, like me, too afraid to get into a Roller Coaster, or Airplane?
I hope you are always able to keep on top of your condition and, if needed, find yourself a stable, specialist who can see you for as long as possible. Consistent care is the best of care. (Every time I got a new specialist, something bad happened as they got used to me)
Do you have a Retinal specialist you see every now-and-then? Mine did his job and, after a few months, said "Call me if you need me." <LoL!>

I was actually flattered. I'm kind of hopeful that her photos will, one day, wind up in a textbook (even though that I'll never know about it, nor will anyone ever know who the guy with the freaky eyes is).
I was advised, right after my detached retina, not to ride roller coasters or air travel. (The air travel was because of the bubble they used to repair it, air travel is fine now.) I'm not really into riding roller coasters, so that doesn't really affect me.
I don't have any specialist, when my retina detached, all I saw was an ophthalmologist. He took good care of me. I got a clean bill of health, with a "don't do stupid things" caveat <heh>, and a list of warning signs to watch out for. I'm in the clear, now. (I just make sure I wear goggles whenever I do something that could lead to an eye injury...)
