I wear the star of life upon my fursuit not for one person but for all my brothers and sisters who go to work day in and day out. The long hours the crappy pay, having to be a glorified taxi service for those who work the system and get a free ride. For the 95% normal transports that make up a normal career, for the 5% white knuckle blood and guts calls. For those that do this job not to get rich or famous, not to be known as heroes, but for whom its a calling to try and help our fellow man because deep down we care. For those of us that make life long careers in this profession, for those who use it as a stepping stone for more, for those of us that are forced to retire because of injury, and for those of us who die doing what needs to be done.

This is for a brother who did not get the chance to know and love personally that was a well known part of the furry family. I didn't need to know him that close. You dawn that uniform and take upon yourself to go out there and do this thankless job, your part of another family, EMS.

I am an EMT and I am proud to be in a profession that shared the likes of a brother taken far too soon. Feb 16th 2014 marks one year since he was stolen from our family. As a tribute I will be handing out pink and yellow stars of life at TFF next month.
