Personally i say Gem should take em. Not only are they professionally perscribed, but, it is only a break she needs, vivid dreams are very draining on the mind and body. On top of that, i think she should go get her blood pressure tested by a doctor.
But thats just what i would do in her shoes. :3
Good to see more work by you sweetie! Fa being down really sucked :p

REM sleep which is the sleep where you dream, is actually not the bit where you get the most rested. Therefore suppressing it would make you less tired, because suppressing your dreams would allow to reach the actual deep sleep where you get most tested. *insert the more you know rainbow here*
unfortunately i have a sleep disorder, while not narcoleptic, i just seem to get alot more REM sleep and less deep sleep lately and am constantly tired. on the bright side i've developed a deeper understanding of my knowledge on the subject. But i totally sadly identify with Gem on this page atm. :c
A lot of people who are saying that Gem shouldn't take the pills are missing what the therapist said completely. The dreams that Gem is having are dangerously vivid, and coming from someone who regularly experiences very strong, vivid dreams (though not to this extent) having that go on combined with the stresses faced in real life, it can be extremely draining and tiring on the mind, and there have been times where I just didn't want to sleep because I was tired of having so many vivid dreams, sometimes 5-7 a night and I could remember details from all of them because they were that strong. Yes it is good to see her family, but presently they are nothing more than dreams. Plus given the situation it would do Gem some good to take a break from things, it may even give her an opportunity to reflect on things and sort out what she should do in the long run regarding them.
That being said I think this is a very important page and a very good one. It's one of those times where the story could go either way. ^^

Uhhhh Prazosin doesn't surpress REM sleep, in fact one of it's main side effects is Oneirophrenia, a hallucinatory, dream-like state.
AND ALSO Dr Kitsune is a psychologist rather then a psychiatrist and wouldn't be allowed to make prescriptions for people?
Desmethoxyyangonin or another Kava extract would be the drug she needs for dreamless sleep but that would be really crazy prescribing her that as it would have an addictive nature beyond her existing problem.
TL;DR: Dr Kitsune is pretty terrible doctor, do not trust his medical advice, it will end up with you wearing diapers!!

That's interesting cause the research I did online suggested that drug did exactly that.
Also I think I may have mixed my terminology up then as Dr Justine is part of a complex similar to cornhill in Aberdeen so I always assumed he had prescription abilities. So I probably meant psychiatrist rather than psychologist from the start. I guess I'm gonna have to go thru some pages and do some editting as that's quite an important distinction to make and something that's going to be important in future pages

Nothing is adictive! It's up to your mind to tell you. Your actually in control, you mind, your body. No strong medication is able to cause an adiction. Come one I used to take Oxycodone (controlled sub level 2) for about 3 months and was able to leave it suddenly (about 2 months ago.) It's all in the mind! You cannot get addictied unless you want to. It's a choice you make not what the drug makes.
I don't think Prazosin is an ideal medicine, it has too many side effects. Herbal tea is anything should help. And exactly what would Gem do for a week? Stay at home all by herself with no one to socialise. I get the feeling Dr. Kitsune is not doing Gem any favours, he's got to think of another way.
Ever since I discovered your art page, Gem, I have enjoyed the cute element your art has to it. But I have found that "Found" has been the most profound part of your gallery. At first I was skeptical, because it seemed like a simple story. However, I have discovered that the complexity, drama, and relate able likeness towards the characters has truly made this one of my favorite comics to read and look forward to every time a new page comes out.
I suggest she take the pills and the week off. It is quite clear that she is on the verge of a mental breakdown and needs the rest. If she HAS to be busy in that time she could work on her home computer and do some research on vivid dreams and meanings behind dream imagery to help her come to terms. Maybe do a search for certain names online to try and FIND Zeezee and Rasile she might get lucky and be able to contact them. I am sure they would want to see their baby sister again...if they are still with us.
Poor Gemma! She deserves to feel loved so much. I really hope she gets to have a happy ending!
--Also,
Rasile:(to Gemma) You take the blue pill and our story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. Take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland...and I show you how deep the squirrel nest goes.
Gemma: Woah.

Well I'm usually one to say follow the professional but I'd question the Doc's advice here. Granted so long as the pill doesn't mess with other parts of the sleep cycle it should be fine but well this guy has don nothing to assuage her fears and indeed seems to have made them worse. I mean seriously this guy should have talked with her at length about things and tried to make sure that his patient is leaving in an emotionally stable state. Not provoking an outburst.
Besides that I'm also going to agree with SleepyCub here. The pill here isn't solving the issue. Does he really think this will help? Even if she does take it how likely is it that she still won't be constantly thinking of these dreams given she has little else to occupy her time with.
Oh and refresh my memory Gem. Hasn't She been keeping a dream diary for the Doctor? You'd think if she had he'd have more to say on the content of the dreams and possible meaning. In short this guy doesn't seem like the best at his profession.
But of course I know this is all working towards a larger plot that'll turn out cool as ice so I look forward to reading more. ^^

Who says the prescription bottle has to say anything legible? It can just have a bunch of random tiny scribbles that are too small to read. :) Or you can type a message saying, "Congratulations! You have spotted a hidden message in Found. Good for you! You win 1 Gem hug!", put it in a very small font, and insert it into the label. :)

I um... I feel a lot less appreciated as a character, all of a sudden.

I think Dr Kitsune, who is not
ChocolateKitsune but just a role he's playing in this drama, is seeing Gemma becoming consumed by the delusion that her dream world is real, to the point where it's affecting her life, which is really real. Now, he hasn't experienced what she has, of course, but he's got a lot more therapy experience, and I'm sure he's seen that kind of thing happen before, and it hasn't been good for the patients. Of course, what's really happening to Gemma might be something entirely different, but from Dr Kitsune's point of view she needs to stop focusing on the things that are upsetting her and her life. It's totally understandable. *nodnods*

Personally, my main concern is that this treatment sounds dangerously experimental, and I'm worried that something could go horribly wrong. Especially when Wikipedia mentions "dreaming while awake" and "hallucinations of wakefulness while falling asleep" among Prazosin's possible side effects.

With every page, i fall in love with this comic more and more
Sometimes taking a rest helps to clarify things. Being exhausted and having an emotional crush isn't a good combination. I've to agree with Dr Kitsune.
Maybe Gem is pretty close to reach the core of all of her inner conflict... but that shouldn't be at the cost of her health, her normal routine and other aspects that a patient taking therapy must take care of.
Gotta agree with some comments above, too: psychiatrists are the ones licenced to prescribe drugs AND also give therapy (in a different approach than psychologists, as far as i know)
Take the pills, Gem
