These guys are the smallest of the non-Neotropical hawks in the US and Canada. They were once affected by DDT, but have since come back in populations and are stable through woodland and forest habitats

They will cut me if they get the chance, such little fighters. It works in their favor though, being willing to fight for their lives while he work to heal them is a good sign in their recovery.
Though training them for education is almost impossible, they're so high strung that unless you have a really young almost baby bird they just refuse.

The spindly end of the Accipiters is INSANE I SWEAR TO GOD.
There were photos in the newspaper one year of a male kestrel and a female sparrowhawk who got into such a damn fight they didn't notice the person come up and photo them.

So far she's eaten a few fruits and veggies I've mixed in her diet but not happy enough to eat them out of my hand. Millet has been my best "omnom you know you want this" treat so far.
I of course will keep trying other things, she's a seed junky so it was hard to get her started on fruits and veggies.

Oh I know that all too well xc I had to convert two tiels and my budge onto a better diet but if she's eating it then at least she's not averse to it! I used to string up bits of broccoli for my boys and Archie to have at and they seemed to do alright. Archie though liked to play with her bell more. This tiny bell that she would either attack... or nuzzle up to and wear like a hat.
She'll eat broccoli and carrots. She also likes a bit of boiled egg and small amounts of spinach.
Though her crack is for sure millet.
Nimbus has a mirror she loves, it doesn't matter where in her cage i put it she'll go play with it all the time. She has 2 mirrors but there is just one specific one she loves.

Millet is indeed bird crack. Though some of my health snacks had millet in them and... they tasted like cardboard so I have no idea. Maybe millet has bird-only flavour.
D'awww! Archie's bell was on the bottom of a toy that had four tiny mirrors in it. I tried to keep them clean but with constant attack, it was impossible and then the thing fell apart XD
