This Old World Vulture, closely related to the Egyptian Vulture, is one of the only vultures who not only don’t have a bald head, but has a rockin’ hairdo. They feast on bones, able to digest it with a pH of 1 in their stomachs after dropping big bones against rocks to break them into manageable, bite size pieces. Their reddish-orange feathers are not natural, but rather derived from rolling in dust for, most likely, decorative or status purposes.
