Why haven't you watched it yet? Are you sure you're a Brony? Well, you're half right, it was used as a joke by Discord, and it's kinda like a Sceptor and kinda like a Jester's wand (or whatever that thing is called), if I recall correctly he was mocking her, and poofed it to her, She shortly after discarded it.
Also, how is it ruined? It's still pretty well done, and it's supposed to resemble the item from the show, specifically now a meme, as the artist described.

You're gonna have that happen if you look at pony fan art. Artists will be drawing the new villains and creatures, and situations. Either you watch the show, or avoid looking at these types of things if you don't want any idea of what will happen in the show.
it's on screen for a few seconds, and is less than a cut-away-gag from family guy in terms of the plot of the show or length of being seen.
Leave it to the fandom to take something that was on screen for 2 seconds and make it into something huge~! (like Derpy, or Lyra/Bon-Bon)
