Clare Esteviel--Wight Knight
*Added Clare's pre-Wight appearance, as an average teen--I forgot to change this before the DA submission, so my apologies. ^ ^; *
A character concept I was inspired to make after reading
NinjaV's little comic--Freakshow.
The most recent page he made explains a few of the common horror/magical myths in nice detail, and for some reason, my mind wandered towards the concept of the Wight Knight.
You've seen them--you know, Wight's. I don't know the the entire story around them, but they're seen in a few RPGs, and in RPG maker as a baddie you can set up.
From what I can tell, they're undead knights--ghosts perhaps, right?
So, I took that concept, and came up with an interesting take on the Wight category.
I thought of three stages--or rather, categories for Wights. First, there are Faded Wight, Waning Wight, and Breathing Wight.
Before I explain why I thought of categories, let's explore the common myths revolving around ghosts--from what people gather, they are basically the remnants of an individual, their soul perhaps.
So, with that in mind, let's dive into the Faded Wight category--this type of Wight are made up of the dregs of one's essence. Upon death, one's soul must go somewhere, but a percentage of it's energy is taken to another world, where it takes the form of a poltergeist. Or rather, a Wight comes to being.
Faded Wight are made up of the most basic type of one's energy, not having a mind of it's own, but seeking to destroy anything in their way. They usually have a faded palette, and lack much facial feature.
Next up, is the Waning Wight--these spirits are made of a tougher sort of energy and determination found in a fighter. While they hardly look human with their slightly decayed appearance, they can think for themselves, and have made several colonies to band together.
Last of all are the Breathing Wight, which resemble humans the most--they are made from the most essence, and look exactly the same as the person they came from, albeit with any scars or injuries they sustained in their life-time.
Say for instance, a man had to have his arm stitched up due to an injury he received as a child--the Wight born from his essence would bear these same stitches.
Despite their more human-like appearance, their colors are a more faded variant of their original appearance, and their skin is lighter as well.
For some strange reason, this type of Wight usually lives in solitude, whether in a protected society, or as hermits.
...Yeah, it's kinda late right now, so I'm having to rush this a bit--let me know what you think though if you have time. D:
Now, this fellow here--as the title suggests--is names Clare Esteviel. He's a 5'7" tall young man, and quite dependable.
He's a bit shy about making new friends, but to hide this fact, he says witty(but never rude)comments to attempt to soften his tension.
His eyes are magenta as a Wight, but his original eye-color was sapphire-blue, and his hair was sandy blond.
He didn't actually die to become a Wight, so he has more essence than any Wight around--though he doesn't know that. And even if he did, he wouldn't pay it any mind.
As a Wight Knight, he wields a gold and ivory colored sword called Ivory Pledge, and Night Shield, his...shield.(clever, I know...< <; )
Clare Esteviel, and Wight types were created by myself--not Wights themselves though, th-that was someone else. < <;
Original sprite-style was developed by Namco Bandai, but I worked with it to create these sprites from scratch.
Please do not use without permission--thank you. ^w^
Major friendly thanks goes out to
InfernoFox--thanks for giving me the idea with the breast-plate, and for lifting my spirits last night.*hugs* X3

Very nifty! And this almost directly parallels my thoughts on spirits in the universe im starting to carve out for my comic. As supernatural is something of a class of being that was formerly human, and either affected by magic, spiritual, or grey magic/talents twisting, changing, or imbuing characteristics beyond a normal humans' capabilities.
.... I might have to appropriate this idea.
*sneaks off, looking devious*

Hehe, thanks V--yeah, it was that page that gave me the idea, and when the character came to mind, I knew I had to try it. X3
I still don't know quite what to use him for, but I'm that will come to me soon enough. 'w'
Sure, feel free--I'd love to see you work with it. ^w^
