Hi everyone! I've decided to start a little weekly review of different recipes I find around FA and the internet in general! This weeks recipe comes from
and is being reviewed with permission!
----
The cold weathers coming up, and what better way to keep toasty than some delicious tea? Or maybe your a cocoa person? Well, this recipe seems to ease all your troubles with decision making, and combines delicious cocoa with perfect tea for a very sweet tasting drink! We'll start this review with the basics.
Clarity in the recipe: Houkuko does an amazing job with illustrating her recipe's, instead of just making a list. It makes it fun, easy to follow, and if you're not very good with following written directions, no fear! They're drawn out for you.
Level of difficulty: If you can work a stove and a spoon, you can totally make this drink. I had to glance once at the recipe and I was set to go.
Time: This recipe took me about 6-10 minutes total to make, with a steep time of five minutes for the tea, and another five of stirring to ensure all the flavors were mixed together.
Clean up: With one pot, a spoon, and a few measuring cups, cleanup is a breeze. While it may seem like a little much for just a drink, it didn't bother me at all to just throw it in the dishwasher when I was done.
Taste: Overall, I'd give it an 9 out of 10. The flavors were strong and stuck with you, but this may be good or bad depending on your tastes. I personally loved the initial sip, but the after flavor of strong tea that stuck to my tongue just wasn't cutting it for me. Modifying the recipe for a hint more sugar and a splash more of the vanilla extract should help. The cinnamon and ginger both add a delightful spice to it, and it really warms you down to the bones, perfect for a cold winter night. This is not a thick drink by any means, so don't think from the color and the mention of cocoa powder that you're getting a thick mug of hot chocolate, this drink is very thin, which in the morning when you just wake up and it's snowing out, may be fantastic. I did not top it with whipped cream, though I may next time and see how it all adds together.
Serving size: I'm currently on Weight Watchers, so after pointing it all out one cup gave me four points. There were three cups total with this drink, when following the recipe exactly, which was perfect for me and my family.
Overall: To complete this review, Houkuko does an amazing job with illustrating her recipes, and cocoa chai tea makes for a very delicious drink when it's cold out. Be wary of the strong tea flavor at the end, and don't be afraid to modify spices to your taste, this recipe has some give to it and will still be great without exact measurements. My suggestion is to get a blanket, your favorite movie, and curl up with a big mugful.

That's it for this week! Above is the picture of my finished product, but coloration may vary from person to person, depending on how you modify. I made no modifications to the recipe, though she suggests adding the spices "to taste" which for me was about a tea spoon of each, but left me wanting a little bit more.)
If you want me to review a recipe for you, or have a suggestion for me, Note me! If I can make it, I'll review it!
