A cute "little" fellow I met at Walmart last night. I saw something large fluttering down to the parking lot ground out of the corner of my eye and, curious and hopeful, searched for what was undoubtedly a bug. I was happily surprised, though, by what I had found! I'm not sure what species it is, but I thought it was a cockroach until I watched it move. After picking it up, I learned that it's some kind of beetle. My sister, another insect admirer (more-so than I), snapped this photo of it resting on my finger.
After a while it kept insisting on taking its leave, but I didn't want to leave it stranded in a concrete desert. I deposited it in the grass seen in the photo. It fell a few times beforehand, and its shell made a surprisingly loud smack against the pavement! It was unharmed, though, and is hopefully safe and sound at the moment.
I kinda love bugs.
