My sister found this little guy after it managed to free itself from a spider web ;w; There's thousands of them in our woods right now, but we hardly ever get to see them up close! We had fun trading it back and forth in our hands. It was a really good sport about it all, poor guy was probably just tired from escaping the web though.
Here you can see the remains of the web on its wings (she and I managed to pull most of it off), and its lovely facial stripes. It was a beautiful bug, I hope we get to see more soon<3
Might anyone know which particular cicada this one is?

Don't they bite, or sting, or something? D:

Well anything with a mouth or mandibles can bite or sting :3 This guy didn't want to though. I'm not even sure if cicadas have ever bitten anyone, but I've been bitten/stung/pinched by much worse I imagine. I guess what I'm saying is I'll still fuck with it regardless lmao

Aww<3 When my sister picked it up, it did start squeaking at her. Not really loudly though X3

Haha, I've held grasshoppers that foam at the mouth. Been peed on by countless frogs too, I don't worry too much about secretions that don't like, instantly burn or something lmao

>w< They are pretty loud. I wonder if their... singing... can actually cause someone to go deaf. Cicadas have that derp face that makes them look... cute.

Man I've lived in Florida my whole life, I love listening to these, if I don't hear them in summer my psyche starts to slip, but I've never actually seen one with my own eyes x3

I live in FL too :D And man, I know how you feel. I went up to Canada a few weeks ago and I was kinda sad that I couldn't hear the cicadas singing their little hearts out :< The break from the heat was totally worth it though XD

"This tree's juice tastes funny," says the cicada to itself as it pierces you with its beaky proboscis. X3

Thankfully their proboscises aren't sharp enough to do anything to people, because those things are huge!

I've been poked by them before. I always just assumed they confused me for a tree.
