the ISS had a nice ~4 minute mag -3.2 pass at my place. captured all the way from when it exited shadow, then entered shadow again. wow is that thing bright!

Well, it's quick, but still does take, in this case 4 and a half minutes to cross the sky, that's not a meteor streak, that's the station! I just needed to know when it would pass and wait. If my electronics weren't burnt out I could have tracked the station in my telescope. difficult, but not impossible shot, would be able to see it had structure then!
Most sats are quite dim. Around 4th mag for the brighter ones, and you need optics to see them well. And even then only at dawn or dusk as that's the only time the sun is shining on them from our perspective. In fact, 35 or so are passing over me right now between 5:30 and 8pm so it's busy up there but still hard to see.
