Somewhere in the Pacific Ocean exists a tiny island upon which thrives a tribal society of lizards, derogatorily called Slinks by the beach traders but properly known as the Fire Eyes. They are led by a chief called Chupong, who is both an apt battle strategist and peacemaker, a witty conversationalist, and a just mediator. He is also a dwarf who has no feet.

Genetically destined to never appear older than a child, Chupong also either lost his feet to injury or was born without them (I never decided), and wears ornate golden shoes over where his ankles would be. Both features are considered extremely lucky by the tribe, but they nonetheless provide the chief with endless bouts of frustration, not the least of which because his appearance makes him mostly untouchable and he'll never be able to take a wife. His only consistent companions are his two devoted bodyguards, who must bear the brunt of his tantrums and lashings when he's in such a mood.

Featured here is one of them, wearing a pair of bolas and dutifully carrying the very grouchy Chupong to and fro.
