For my friend Mike, from Wabano Community Centre in Ottawa who is a fellow two-spirit and men's traditional dancer. He received his spirit name, which in English translates to 'Dancing Wolf Boy'. The Ojibwe writing is a blessing and a see you later to him :3
All regalia is individual to the person and thus it is inappropriate to steal designs from photographs and people at powwows. A lot of time, effort, and money goes into powwow regalia no matter the style and it is considered at best offensive and at worst a spiritual taboo to copy/steal/appropriate regalia and their designs into your work. It's best to design it for yourself in pictures/life based on your community/history/culture/individual expression than to take from others :)
Done with Mechanical Pencil and Green ColErase. If anyone wants to commission this style of art since my tablet is down, they're $20 bucks each for single character and any elaborate outfit you want.

I really love the design of the regalia truly unique, i will admit i never considered it could be offensive to copy someones regalia before now but then again i never learnt about native american culture within school (due to living in england.)
May i ask do you digitally colour over traditional lines its just occurred to me when you created the adoptable's they seemed to have a texture to them that seemed to be traditional lines.

Aw, thank you! And yeah, to a lot of people powwow means many things, so to some it's just competitive dancing, but to others (like me) it's a mix of spiritual reflection/dancing in honour of friends/family and a community thing. Hey, even in school in America and Canada they don't teach these things, so it's okay!
Sure! Note me on details! Just throw $5 onto the $20 and I can do digital colour :D And yes, the adoptables lines were traditionally done save for the Foo Dog design :)

Thanks! And just a simple correction, but 'Native American' is a large blanket term! This would be an Ojibwe wolf! There are over 500 nations/tribes in North America alone, not beginning to count Mexico and South American indigenous nations/bands. I'd love to see more native-created cartoons myself! If you'd like to see some, go check out Raven Tales on Youtube!
