I love all psittacines, but macaws have to be my favorite group of parrots. I love my blue and gold macaw (my little blue boo!) and I just adore the entire family of these amazing birds.
Here is a 'totem pole' of macaws - from the mini macaws at top to the world's largest parrot at the bottom, the hyacinth macaw.
A list of all the species and prints are available here: http://foxloft.com/image/macawstack

I thought he was a Hyacinth until Tulio said "Spix Macaw!" when he started to wear the macaw's costume. I was a little disappointed that neither Blu or Jewel were that blue on the real life lol http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8832335/
Actually, he said "Cyanopsitta spixii!". Being an ornithologist, he WOULD know the Latin name for the bird. (And it was a great way to sneak it in, since "Spix" sounds way too much like "spick" in English, so they couldn't use the name outright.
They're also called Little Blue Macaws so it's all good.
I really like that pic of Blu and Jewel, BTW; shows that, in Real Life, Spix's are mostly monomorphic (Male and female look alike); they had to feminize Jewel so audiences could too who was who!

Yes, I have prints available: http://foxloft.com/image/macawstack :)
Very very nice picture. About the only macaw I can think of that's missing offhand is the Military Macaw, and I can easily see why: it's really easy to confuse a Military Macaw with a Great Green Macaw - the latter is even called a Great Military Macaw by some handlers.
You might want to put a note in somewhere, macaw aficionados (and I am not one of them!) will pick up on that.

There are a few species left out here, actually quite a few - it was a tough decision between the buffon's/great green and military (I love the green macaws) but for artistic purposes I went with the larger sized bird. :) But yeah, there are 17 species of macaw alive today and a few recently extinct so this is just a little sampling of the family :)
I find amazons, on the whole, to be much more difficult to work with than macaws are - not to say there aren't a lot of bad-tempered macaws out there, but having raised both from babies a well-adjusted, well-trained amazon is much harder to deal with than the same macaw. :) I've never actually been bitten by my blue and gold and I've had her going on 14 years :)
