It is, and it isn't. While Hector has said, he wouldn't object to dying. He's never said he'd want it to end now. There's one way to stop this from being a "crime" ask Hector. If he wants to live, then the methods though gruesome are acceptable. It's not as though you purposely killed the creature. The deed was done. This time...it's a bit more *cringe* but, if he wishes to live. It's a tad more acceptable. If Hector does choose no. Accept it, love him. And let him go....or you truly will be a bigger monster then what you feel you are now
Letting go is the hardest thing we ever have to do. When it seems like the world, or something in it, is bound and determined to take away every precious thing you've ever had... it can be hard not to tighten your grasp on what you still have. And the harder you hold the people you love, the less able they are to breathe.

She's desperate to keep him alive, cause she's seen him die painfully with his soul in that gem in constant torment post-mortem...
And he's the only one that in her youth gave a crap about her, "curse" and all.
Imagine if there was but one soul in the entirety of the world that cared about you, warts and all...what would you do, to keep them around or alive? *hugs Fen*
After all, in the novel Hunchback, Quasimodo was devastated when Esermelda died, she was the only one to really show him compassion...if momentarily...that when she was buried in a mausoleum...he crawled in there with her corpse...and his skeleton was found next to it years later.
'Tis simply the story of a gothic figure as always.
