Yes.. this is the view, from the observatory, .., actually looking out a window in the 36 inch.
The orange light is from the low pressure sodium lamps, that are more easily filtered out for astronomy.

You might want to look into the International Dark Sky Association (IDA) because they where instrumental in helping San Jose and it's light problem. You can find more here http://www.darksky.org/
So we climbed up to Mt Hamilton and caught them. it was spectacular.
We've been going to Lake Tahoe since I was 2 years old, and every year we go to the West shore of the lake, and can see and *definitely hear* all the fireworks from Tahoe City, Kings Beach and even South Shore.
Hence, it's a whee bit fuzzy; Glad you like it!
