Awesome artwork. Love the look of his fur on his mane/neck. I'm an artists myself and am.trying to get better at drawing realistic fur with pencils and shading but its difficult. How long this take u to do? Any special type of grade pencils u use?

Hello! Thanks for the compliment! I actually used some plain, old, basic mechanical pencil on this sketch. I did use an eraser pencil, which is great for cleaning up lines and making precise erasing! I can't actually remember how long this sketch took (I believe it was almost 6 years ago?) I also wasn't focusing on it in one sitting, i was working on it off and on.

Sometimes i just go lighter with the pencil over areas that are in shadow and build that shadow up to being darker if its in a darker area, leaving other areas lighter, or going over parts with the eraser pencil. Check out youtube for some tutorials, theres probably a ton on there! You don't need specific pencils to make a good sketch, but depending on what kind of look you want, there are some supplies that will give you different looks/effects on your drawing.

Thanks for the advice and kind words. I'm gonna keep practicicng until i get that realistic look. I've been looking at tutorials on Pinterest and using real pictures to study off of. But I'll definitely use YouTube tutorials as well.
