Miss Billishire - Major Domo - realllly old art
Okay – continuing with realy old art -
This was the first drawing of Miss Billishire, gussied up with digital patterns later...
Willa had come along as the first character of the story...i knew she was a poor country skunk who is sent by her aunt (who raised her) to serve at the cat castle. But what was her “in” to serve there? Her "in" was another “aunt” (this one not actually related – Miss B is from the same village as Willa, and ten years older than her – hence respectfully called “aunt”)Miss Billishire was head of kitchen staff, of course – a large, stern, imposing woman! From head of kitchen staff she had gone on to become head of all castle staff - “Major Domo”....then i got to thinking that, being literate, she had been Lord Tad's tutor when he was younger....hmmmm...perhaps in other things as well? That under the stern, frumpy outside....hmmmm...
And so the story evolved, as did Miss B's character.
Original inking was probably 8 x 8 inches or so...around 98' ????
Digi stuff done in PainshopPro 7 aroung '04 ???
Willa's first drawing is over here:

Not that long, but it was spread-out over a few months.
The original traditional inking was head and shoulders and part of her dress. i was rather annoyed with how sloppy the pattern on her dress was, so i thought "Fudge, i'll make a digi pattern of what i drewed, that way it won't be full of clumsy!" Did that, used some warp fx to make it sort of 3-D, then saved it as a compressed jpeg with ink and pencil showing through in place so it was a total wreck and i had to go back in months later ans paint white all over the dress yo try to save it...(Saving as a compressed jpeg - noooob!!!) -
Anywhoo, a few months later i had made a "medieval stone wall" pattern - and tested here (flood fill a layer and then use the deform tool to put it in perspective...
Then later the came with pebble/cobble stone floor. Then laid a platter/dot/noise pattern over the floor...
And then the digi-hatching - this is a pattern sampled from my trad cross-hatching and stitched together into a seamless pattern. i create new transparent layer and paint the pattern in just like it was colour. Create another layer, rotate the pattern, paint in to darken. Repeat process.
Her left sleeve and tail then remained semi un-finished for about seven yrs? A few days ago when people seemed to like the first old art of Miss B i posted i looked over other old art or her "Hey, i can finish this in five minutes!" - So into Krita to finish the tail, and a few lines on her sash/belt - and back into Paintshop to fix her medallion and add a bit more digi-hatching. - This digi-hatching is sort of my fave/go-to - but i lost it a couple years ago when my old comp crashed - It wasn't on my external drive. But what was on my external drive was a picture or two in pdf format - where i could lift the pattern back out - carefully crop - and so as of a week ago i got that pattern back.
So, lots of card tricks that i developed to do the comic-book version so that that won't take fr frkin ever....but, when in production on the comix i should be able to do a multi panel page or two per day...

Thnks! ^_^
Reading commenny "very regal" - i thot "she's *Miss* Billishire, not *Lady*....and i guess because of the style and pose here i got the (not so original but still fun) idea to do the cast as face cards - goes with style and era and i could probably make actual full decks (when i get around to doing the comic, after the Emma and Ash graphic novel)....
