I was told at the Jamestown park that one of these that was 60 feet long could pull freight up an 8% grade. That would put the front of the engine 5 feet above the rear according to the man who was telling us about them. That's pretty doggone impressive, in my book.

Well,maybe.... I dunno about the looks, but the guy who was leading my tour said that when the one they had in the roundhouse was running, you'd want to stand at least 6 feet back because of all the oil it would be slinging. I can believe it too....looking at the way it operates.
