Sanity comic world building script
This may contain a bit of spoilers, but it's basically all the world building I've been doing for my sanity comic.
I posted it here so I don't lose it, and also have it in a google doc.
Decided to also record it because yesterday I was explaining to my friend the idea behind sanity.
(I’m talking to my friend/co-writer about this stuff, this isn’t all of it. This all is just a general concrete taste of what’s to come. I’m also writing pages, slowly. I’m also posting this up here so I don’t... Accidentally lose this or anything. )
In general world aspects:
-Once humans disappear, animals taking over and rebuilding.
-the world is a whole huge junkyard and you have like scrappers who'd gather junk and then in each community the tinkerers would keep the towns going. Tinkerers basically fuel generators, fix essential appliances and then research in scrap remains and report their findings to a higher end of the world in which, they would take tinkerer inventions and give back food or goods, etc.
-In the middle of the place is a futuristic area that’s barriered by large mountains to protect from attackers. It’s an advanced tech society, then there’s the “sorting” a working class area that isn’t bad. The sorting is home to the types of people bringing in the cargo from the scrapper/tinkerer societies below them. The tinkerer societies full of scrappers, caravaneers and Tinkerers
-The community they are in is honestly pretty safe. Tinkerers have the power to create bots, or as they call them "Rollers". So it's not like fallout where there's absolute chaos. Mind you, this is like more organized because of the flow of power in this world. but I guess I'll write more into that later
-In every scrap place, you have the scrappers, guys who gather useful scrap for tinkerers and then in turn the tinkerers give to caravaneers to give to the higher societies to refine. Then you have like you know, run off the mill business people, traders, etc. But the best job I would say are the Marauders/warrior types of people.
-Like basically, in any post apoc setting you have ruins, right? Well marauders/warriors clear out deserted ghost town areas and secure them so then people can go in and then loot the place
-I was thinking of having like the types of people who can survive in the abandoned types of places. Like they go into controlling the crossroad entities, similar to the god creature of the crossroads.
Sanity:
The main character is mason. He's a cat guy who's the son of a caravaneer. The beginning of the comic is really foggy. Like images merge and fragment and the comic emulates Mason's insanity, or atleast unstability
-When he was young, he witnesses his father being killed in front of his eyes
ike when he was mega young, he had to witness his father being killed in front of his eyes. Disembowled, eaten and the caravan ransacked.
-Family members: Kipp, and mom. Mom left when father had been killed. Mysteriously upped and left. (Didn’t wanna be generic and say she was killed by raiders)
-Mason’s current job, is being a tinkerer's assistant. (Which is a very very rare thing to be). Tinkerers have to choose people they see potential in, like someone they could teach about fixing toasters, small appliances and then eventually allow them to "graduate" and work for the bigger part of the world. (I might rewrite this.)
-I have Mason's master named Earl, who seems to have alzheimers. Like, he forgets who he's talking to most of the time. He's basically gone crazy with madness from working day and night that he has become delusional.
-I was planning on him having some ulterior motives in which I can't get into yet.
Creatures of the crossroads:
-Well outside of tinkerer/scrap communities there are "creatures of the crossroads"
The horse skull god for example is the deity sort.
-They come in different shapes and sizes
-The more common ones are the "physical Cross roaders". They're like the animal people but mutilated and seem physically tortured.
-They get into these huge cults and cannibal fests. The biggest target they run into are caravaneers and stray people who leave the scrap societies.
Most of the creatures are controlled by sorcerer types of people. And mainly people who are sorcerers go nuts. Cause they're dabbling in dark arts of things. Just controlling a creature inflicts so much damage into their souls, considering those types of creatures shouldn't really be tamed due to being things thriving off bad energy anyway. But you've got to be an incredibly skilled person to control bigger entities.
-It's sort of a tech vs crossroads thing. There is a bigger place in the world, like a huge place that's all you know incredibly high end. Working plumbing, animals who are highly intelligent. Most tinkerers actually are born and raised in that place. But it's like, they have to pass a test to stay in there. If they fail, or get punished, they are forced to help the marauders secure the ghost areas.
Other chapters:
-part of the same world
-different offshoot stories that have the characters related to the main story/idea in the end of the whole series
-focus on telling the readers about the outsides of the societies and places and how they function so we don’t have just “one” perspectives on everything.
