Well, it's not as bad as trying to read fiction from the early 19th Century, but I believe I can relate to your statement. I usually find myself reading technical manuals written from the early 1900s through to the 1950s, and sometimes they wrote things that take me a few moments to figure out. If anything, now I've got an excuse to cruise the local used book shops and seek out some of these titles. I'm intrigued by the one about "The Hungry Tiger."
If I remember correctly...which is a disputable thing... the Hungry Tiger one was sort of off the wall for Oz books. I do recall liking it and thinking how odd it was. Of course i read it as a child and haven't read it again for the last 50 years or so. I can't think how I'd react to it now. Maybe I should go to my sister's storage place and dig it out. ;3
